US President signals no retreat in Iran negotiations, citing stalled progress, regional tensions, and lack of NATO support.
US President Donald Trump stated that Iran is not presenting a deal aligned with US expectations regarding ongoing negotiations. Speaking to supporters in The Villages, Florida, Trump appeared publicly for the first time following an alleged assassination attempt and sharply criticized Iran’s approach to the talks.
“Iranians are not coming to us with the kind of agreement we need. We will handle this properly,” Trump said, emphasizing that the United States will not step back from the process or allow the issue to resurface prematurely. He underlined Washington’s determination to maintain its position both diplomatically and militarily.
NO EARLY EXIT FROM NEGOTIATIONS
Trump stressed that the US would remain engaged until a satisfactory resolution is achieved, adding, “We will not leave early and allow the problem to return.” His remarks suggested a firm stance on both the negotiation table and in terms of military posture in the region.
STRAIT OF HORMUZ TENSIONS AND CLAIMS
Referring to developments in the Strait of Hormuz, Trump claimed that nearly 400 vessels have been stranded due to restricted passage. He also alleged that 159 vessels belonging to Iran’s navy had been sunk, though these claims were not independently verified.
CRITICISM OF NATO SUPPORT
Trump further expressed frustration toward NATO, stating that while the US has spent “trillions of dollars” supporting the alliance, it has not received backing in its current operations in the Gulf. He criticized the lack of allied involvement in the ongoing regional process.
