Iranian Leaders Commemorate Ebrahim Raisi, Defy US and Israel Over Regional Tensions

Commemorating the second anniversary of former President Ebrahim Raisi’s passing, Iran’s top leadership, led by Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, praised the nation’s ongoing military and political resistance against Western and Israeli pressures.

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei has released an extensive commemorative message marking the second anniversary of the tragic helicopter crash on May 19, 2024, which claimed the lives of former President Ebrahim Raisi, then-Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and their accompanying delegation. Commencing his written address by paying tribute to the late officials, Khamenei stated that these individuals “decorated the diligent service record of Islamic Republic officials with their own blood.” Emplacing a strong emphasis on Raisi’s unwavering sense of duty, dedication to justice, active diplomatic strategies, and direct engagement with the public, the Supreme Leader noted that these robust traits instilled deep courage across Iran’s regional allies, most notably within the broader “Resistance Front.”

Shifting focus to Tehran’s current international alignment, Mojtaba Khamenei pointedly criticized Washington and Tel Aviv without naming them directly. “We are currently witnessing a unique, historic epic of resistance displayed by the Iranian nation against two global terrorist armies,” the Supreme Leader declared. He added that this tense reality places a heavier burden of responsibility on all administrative tiers, urging governmental bodies to maintain internal harmony, directly intervene to alleviate domestic economic hardships, and grant citizens a more active role in shaping the country’s bright future.

PRESIDENCY AND PARLIAMENT DECLARE SUBMISSION STRATEGIES AN “ILLUSION”

Reinforcing the administration’s unyielding stance, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian took to social media to evaluate the ongoing diplomatic back-and-forth with the United States. Pezeshkian asserted that any foreign policy designed to force Iran into absolute submission through aggressive pressure tactics is nothing short of an illusion. “In the realm of diplomacy, mutual respect is far wiser, safer, and more sustainable than warfare,” the President stated, adding that while Tehran consistently honors its commitments and explores every avenue to prevent active combat, all strategic options remain firmly open on the table.

Concurrently, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf issued a vocal message to the public, warning that despite current ceasefire protocols, foreign adversaries have by no means abandoned their primary military objectives. Ghalibaf claimed that covert and overt movements by Western and Israeli forces point to a persistent search for a new conflict. “Our powerful Armed Forces have fully utilized this ceasefire window to meticulously rebuild and upgrade our military capabilities,” Ghalibaf reassured the public. He concluded by announcing that parliament is establishing a specialized oversight committee to systematically address daily economic struggles and stabilize the supply of essential commodities for the population.
