A deep-sea diving excursion in the Maldives turned into a tragedy as five Italian tourists lost their lives while exploring underwater caves located at a depth of dozens of meters.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy announced that a five-member group of Italian citizens encountered a fatal accident during a scuba diving excursion aimed at exploring caves situated 50 meters below the surface of the sea. Italian media channels reported that local emergency response teams managed to retrieve the body of one individual during the initial phase of the post-incident operation. Meanwhile, intensive recovery efforts are actively persisting beneath the surface to safely locate and pull out the remaining four victims from the underwater site.
