Truck Accident at Colombia Event Kills Three

A modified truck lost control during an event in Popayán, killing three people and injuring 40 others.

The incident occurred at the Bulevar Rose venue during the “Monster Truck 2026” event, where a customized vehicle reportedly veered off course while crossing obstacles and entered the area where spectators were gathered.

CASUALTIES CONFIRMED

Authorities confirmed that three individuals, including one child, lost their lives in the accident. Dozens of others were injured and received medical attention following the crash.

MECHANICAL FAILURE SUSPECTED

Police Chief Julián Castañeda told local media that the accident was caused by a mechanical failure, noting that the vehicle’s braking system had malfunctioned.

“This was a special event. The number of injured is still being clarified. The vehicle suddenly accelerated and could not be stopped,” Castañeda said, adding that the driver is in stable condition.
