Defense ministry confirms acquisition of F-35 and F-15IA squadrons from the US under long-term military modernization strategy.
The Israel Ministry of Defense announced that it has approved the purchase of two new fighter jet fleets from the United States.
In a statement, officials said the acquisition will include squadrons of F-35 Lightning II and F-15IA aircraft. The procurement is part of a long-term military development plan aimed at strengthening the country’s defense capabilities.
PART OF LONG-TERM FORCE BUILDUP PLAN
The ministry noted that the deal falls within a 10-year force build-up program valued at 350 billion Israeli shekels. The plan had previously been approved by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz.
COMPREHENSIVE SUPPORT AND INTEGRATION INCLUDED
According to the statement, the agreement will cover the full integration of the aircraft into the Israeli military, along with extensive maintenance, spare parts supply, and logistical support. Authorities emphasized that the procurement is designed to ensure long-term operational readiness and sustainability of the air force.
